"THE IDES OF MARCH WAY"   STREET SIGN TO BE UNVEILED ON SEPT. 12TH

It's quite fitting the band that had the hit song "Vehicle" will soon have their name above a Berwyn street for vehicles to see for years to come.  "THE IDES OF MARCH WAY" will have their commemorative street sign unveiled in Berwyn Sept. 12th.  The bands street sign honor is just the second ceremonial street sign in the City of Berwyn's 102 year history.

The band was formed in the 1960's in the basement of a Berwyn home and has been performing for fans around the world ever since.  Their song "Vehicle" reached #2 on the Billboard record chart in 1970 and 40 years later the band will have "The Ides of March Way" dedicated just blocks from where it all started.  The band has planned a two hour celebration in conjunction with the street signing and unveiling.  Special guest scheduled to appear include Dick Biondi, Fr. Dan Mayall of Holly Name Cathedral and Berwyn and school officials.

"We are honored to be part of Berwyn's rich history and are grateful we can take our street sign unveiling to another level to raise money for our former high school" longtime band member Chuck Soumar said.

THE NEW IDES CD "STILL 19" IS HERE!!!!

This new studio album will not disappoint any fan that has followed the Ides since they started nearly 50 years ago. It has lots of horns and harmonies that have been their trade mark from the beginning. The 11 track cd includes the fan favorite "COME DANCING", "VEHICLE" (vintage mix), and a amazing new verison of the Beatles "A DAY IN THE LIFE".  You will hear "SOUL TO SOUL" a song that Bob Bergland co-wrote with Jim, the awesome rocker "KEEP ROCKING", ( that the Ides have been starting their set with), "SECRETS OF A WOMAN", "I FOUND LOVE", "FOR ONE MOMENT", "LIVE LIFE", " LOVE WILL ROCK YOU" and "STILL 19".

"STILL 19" is a state of mind.  It is the age this band feels when they stand and deliver one of their mesmerizing shows - energetic, a bit mischievous; defying age, gravity and location - a sum of every mile they've traveled, every show they've played, and all the records they have made.

"STILL 19" along with their new Christmas Cd " I BELIEVE" can be purchased at the shows and their web site.

PAST NEWS

We all know that Peterik is a awesome songwriter who can write any kind of gender of music, so it was no surprise that he has tried his hand  at smooth jazz.  Jim along with Lisa McClowry have a new CD called "Lifeforce".  Jim has re-written Vehicle, The Search is Over and the Eye of the Tiger with a cool jazz feeling to it.  To find out more about his new project and getting this awesome Cd go to www.JIMPETERSLIFEFORCE.COM

Besides Lifeforce, Jim has been very busy with another project that everyone is just excited about.  Jim and Jimi Jamison have been in the studio making one of the best rock CD's to come out this year.  You can hear it all on November 7th, when Jamison's "CROSSROADS MOMENT" hits the street.  Special Guest Stars performing with Jamison will be Tommy Denander on "Battersea", Kelly Keagy on "Make Me A Believer" and an all-star cast made up of Don Barnes, Dave Bickler, Joe Lynn Turner, Mickey Thomas, and Mike Reno on "When Rock Was King" -  a tribute to the rocking '80s.  You will be able to hear samples from the following web sites:  www.jimjamison.com /www.myspace.com/jimijamison / www.frontiers.it/ www.myspace.com/frontiersrecords.

Jim has completed work for his forthcoming solo album entitled ABOVE THE STROM.  The record is out now on Frontiers Records and includes the following tracks: Live Life; Burning With A Reason; Above The Storm; In The Days We Have; Stand And Be Counted; At This Time Of Night; A Kiss To Remember You By; The God In You; Secrets Of A Woman; A Talent For Loving You; Hiding From Yourself; Midnight In My Soul and We Believe.
Above The Storm is Jim's second solo album and features a few of his favorite writers, like Johnny Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Donnie Van Zant of .38 Special to add their unique touches to the project.  The distinctive combined voices of the Ides Of March also appear on the title song of Above The Storm.  Their combination with Jim's lead vocal have the effect of meeting an old friend in a new and unexpected place.  The same can be said of the amazing synergy between Jim and singer Lisa McClowry who takes time away from her solo career and slot in Jim's world stage shows to add her soulful background vocals.
Another thread that vibes its way through the album is the sound of the Hammond B-3 organ, played by Jim's Ides bandmate Scott May.  More pieces of that puzzle that fit in just right on Above The Storm are the Pride Of Lions rhythm section and the mighty Ides Of March brass section.

A little note from the editor   May 2002

Nothing has given me more pleasure these past three years then running the official site for the Ides.  But the time has come to turn over the reins to S C Publicity, who will be maintaining a newly designed page.  I will continue to assist Tom Soars as contributing editor and inform everyone on tour dates and other important item of interest.

This change has also given me the opportunity to make the former site more fan orientated and bring with it a new look, name and direction.  I f you have any old pictures, articles or interesting things that would be of interest, I would be happy to put them on the site.  I want to make this your site as well as the bands.  Thanks to everyone who has stopped by today and those who have been a regular visitor on the old site.  I will be reorganizing each section at a time, so the whole new look will take a little while.  The main goal is to get the site up and let people know there will now be two Ides sites to visit.
